St. Joseph Confraternity of Christian Mothers The St. Joseph Confraternity of Christian Mothers meets on the 4th Thursday of the month from September through May at 7:00pm. We gather to pray the Holy Rosary at 8:30am prior to the 9:00am Mass on the 4th Sunday of every month. Our yearly dues are $5.00. We are affiliated with the Pittsburgh Arch Confraternity directed by the Capuchin Fathers and Brothers since 1954. The main purpose is to keep married women aware of their high vocation and to aid them spiritually, especially in the character formation of their children. You will receive: instructions on Christian family living, added social contacts and a chance to work for your church and community, a share in the prayers and good works of the Christian Mothers, many plenary indulgences, a Mass at death, and many parochial benefits. You will be asked to foster your own spiritual life and that of your husband and children by reciting the Daily Prayer for the Children, receiving Holy Communion once a month, and by attending regular meetings whenever possible. Our meetings consists of prayer, a short business meeting, followed by a program and light refreshments. Our money-making projects include bake sales, raffles, and hoagie sales. Any good, practicing Catholic woman, married or widowed, though she has no children may be admitted. We encourage and invite the mothers of newly baptized children to join our membership. Non-Catholic married women and single Catholic women may join as associate members. The Confraternity prayers may be offered for the children of the parish. We strive to instruct and educate, to practice virtues of the heart and to remind ourselves of the sanctity of motherhood, and we ask God to give us strength as we tend to the importance of these sacred duties toward our families. Please contact JoAnn Crosky, President at 724-337-7191 if you are interested in becoming a member. |
