Region 1, Deanery 1 The Regional Councils of the Diocese of Greensburg help promote unity and strengthen the quality of pastoral life of the parishes in geographic areas of the diocese that share common infrastructures, resources, and histories.
St. Joseph Church is located in Region 1 of Deanery 1 of the Diocese of
Greensburg. The other parishes in Region 1 are Mount St. Peter
Church, New Kensington, All Saints Church, Arnold, St. Mary of Czestochowa
Church, New Kensington, and St. Margaret Mary Church, Lower Burrell.
We, Region 1 of the Diocese of Greensburg, consisting of All Saints,
Arnold; St. Margaret Mary, Lower Burrell; Mt. St. Peter, St. Joseph and
St. Mary, New Kensington, are the Catholic community of the Alle-Kiski
Valley. Our parishes served the developing industrialized immigrant
communities along the Allegheny River for nearly two
centuries. Community Goal: To foster an environment among our parishes to facilitate the concept of collaboration. (June of 2004) Objective 1:To foster improved communication and interaction among the parish pastoral councils of Region 1. (June of 2004) Objective 2:Prepare and
plan a day of retreat for the members of the pastoral councils of Region 1
parishes. (June of 2004) Evangelization Goal: To develop a uniform census instrument to be utilized by parishes in the region for the purpose of accurately reflecting census figures as well as to identify target groups for outreach. (June of 2004) Objective 1:Identify
representatives of each parish to participate in uniform census instrument
development. (June of 2004) Word Goal: To continue existing collaborative efforts and foster development of additional collaborative efforts in religious education in the various models available in the region. (September of 2004)Objective 1: Discuss and document the various religious education models available in Region 1. (April of 2004) Objective 2: Communicate the various models of religious education to the parishioners of the Region's parishes. (September of 2004)
